Professor Mireku-Gyimah is a chartered mining engineer and a professor of mining engineering with many years of professional and academic experience. He holds Dsc (Honoris causa), PhD (Computer-Aided Mine Design & Planning), DIC (Mine Design & Planning) and Msc (Mining Engineering). He also has the following professional titles to his credit: FGA, (Fellow, Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences), FGhIE (Fellow, Ghana Institution of Engineers), MGhIG (Member, Ghana Institution of Geoscience), MNYAS (Member, New York Academy of Science),  MIMM (Member of Inst. Of Mining and Metallurgy, UK), MSME (Member, American Society of Mining Engineers, USA) 

He is currently the Vice Chancellor of University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa and a Consultant to the mining industry in Ghana and abroad.
